…..a runner:…. let me expand. About 6 years ago I found myself in Orlando, FL, trying to hide from my booze swilling croonies I dodged into the gym and hopped onto a treadmill. Even then I ran like a limp-wristed girl, alas I’ve worked on my technique but it’s still a tad effeminate…WTF it gets me there right? and I’m way too self-indulgent to care anyway. Well it was downhill from there on. Spent the next six months setting targets for myself on the machine… longer, faster…. more masculine maybe. And then I got into a conversation with an old injured runner who suggested I take my thing out on the road and try a 10k race. Up until that day I had never really realised that I had a competative side to my miserable character…
Anyway I’ve lost count of the 10’s, 15’s & 20k race that brought up my heartrate but I’ve loved every one of them, some more than others but the love is always there. Eight marathons later and my initiation to the world of ultras…… (work in progress, when I get some time I’ll continue this tale….)
